IT fair + a day in school
The only reason I turned up for school today was because I had to meet a professor. That's all. I had no intention of going for internship but since my friend could only meet me at 1pm, I decided to go for internship.
I feel bad about not being able to stay for 鲁老教授's lesson. But I really needed to go to the IT fair today. I will be a 乖宝宝 next week I promise!
So I skipped off during lunch to collect the prizes I won for the NTU AnimeWorks Guess The Anime Song thingie. They told me that I could choose 3 prizes and asked if I wanted to add on points by doing today's questions. I accepted and did it. In the end, I was entitled to 8 presents!!! Bwaha!
I did it all out of fun actually, and the presents are just an added bonus. There wasn't much variety left and I had to pick 8... Ellyn didn't want any so I decided to take a Naruto one for my friend who I was meeting later. I could always remember the "omg" looks the booth people gave me, especially when I asked for a plastic bag to put all the toys. I even overheard them saying that I (I think) was in second place overall. So maybe I have a chance to win the Sennheiser headphones? It's just something extra. I am already pretty happy with the toys I got.
I especially liked the Chopper toy. It was probably one of the cutest. I reckon all the Ichigo ones are already gone, for I only say 1 ugly Rukia one and a Hitsugaya one. I got 2 KKM toys, Yuri and Wolfram in maid costumes! An Asuka (from NGE) toy that I knew was her only until later (I picked it out in a hurry because it was pretty cute. Asuka was in a bear suit!), Shikamaru in a deer suit and Taka-san as a cafe waiter! In the end, I was picking out things in a hurry and happened to dig in a box to pull out Hattori (the pigeon on Rob Lucci's shoulder).
Hattori is together on top of the lists of my fave toys that I received today. I realised at home that a bandage was given so that it can be put on his head! Kawaii!!! And super funny.
IT fairs are squeezy... But I finally bought a laptop. I had so much problem bringing everything home... It seems like I liked the prizes more than the notebook. Lol! Well, maybe tomorrow I will feel more inspired to write about the fair.

Selfishness is always a part of people
People are selfish by nature, some show it more outwardly while some hide it.
I have told myself so many times I should not harp on it but I just can't get it off my mind. Someone has portrayed her selfishness on the outside and I can't stand it. Probably because it affects me directly so I am so disturbed by it. However, if I were to put myself in the shoes of an outsider, I would probably feel the same way. People who are selfish and pushy at the same time, do they always get their way? If it is so, then I am really disappointed.
Take things in my stride, that is how I am trying to convince myself now. After all, it is not the end of the world. I still have many other choices to take and they may not be bad after all. Telling myself everything will work out, I hope this psychology works on me.
The sky is huge and I am just a little bird in the vast horizon. Somehow I may find that certain portion that fits me.

NTU stabbing: Something just waiting to happen?
I believe by this time many people has already got wind of the case surrounding a NTU student stabbing his professor. As a matter of fact, I only knew the entire story this morning when I caught sight of the news on the front page of the newspapers.
I was taking a blood test at NTU Medical Centre yesterday when a nurse came into the lab and told the person who was drawing blood from me that there was a stabbing case and that she and the doctor had to go and handle it. At first, I didn't think much about it, thinking it might be a rift between construction workers or something like that. Never would I have thought that it was between a student and a professor.
With all the stress in Singapore universities, this is something that might have just been waiting to happen. The FYP grade is essential for the type of honours that you will get. No matter how much you have worked for the first class honours, a B grade is enough to pull you down to a second class honours. And it can be very devastating for a student. (I shall shut up about my personal 'grievances'.)
But can we help it? In Singapore, a drop in your honours grade would be equivalent to getting less pay and less chances in your job. All the pressure to perform as well as the stress of having his scholarship revoked from him probably drove the student to the edge.
Many people say that results are not everything, however we are brought up to believe that results are everything. Many people just get over it and hate their university/professor for life and look back thinking how stupid they were in the past to hold on so tightly to that. If only he could move on. The disappointment and fear must be too much for him to handle.
We have been there, done that, seen that, felt that. To be frank, his feelings are not totally that difficult to understand. It is the way that he let it out that led to such tragic consequences. It may also be important to note that not everyone has someone to talk to, to pour out their worries, especially him being a foreign student.
I just have to say, it is such a waste of a precious life.
