Chinese New Year!!!
Happy Chinese New Year everybody! 新年快乐！ 万事如意！
The first day of new year was well...normal... Just went to visit a few of my relatives and got some red packets and exchanged new year greetings and oranges. I got to see 2 of my married cousins and their wives. It is really strange when you are getting red packets from relatives of the same generation as you. They are indeed older than you, but not that much.
And I spent the rest of the day doing my own stuff. That is pretty much it. THe only difference is that we had a steamboat and bbq at home. It was nice! Just that the cleaning up was a bit... I don't like the cleaning up part. You feel energized after having a nice meal but regain all the fatigue when doing the cleaning up. I wonder if the restaurants will be packed with people too lazy to do their own cooking and cleaning up.
During festivals when I am in Beijing, I think that I will just pretty much ignore the festival. Lol! The young people these days do not really care about festivals and tradition that much. It is sad that the traditions that have been passed on from our forefathers will be gone just like that. But with the modern way of thinking...it just cannot be helped. And I am guilty of the crime too.
The year of the ox may not be that good as it is "lacking in the fire element", but I hope everything turns for the better. With a better economy, everyone will definitely be happier!
